Moda + Aurifil: Pat Sloan and Me & My Sister Designs

We’re on day 7 of  Moda + Aurifil and hope that you’re having as much fun as we are! <3 Moda Fabrics has been a treasured and dedicated partner, a creative leader, and, above all, an inspiration for years. We so value the collaboration and relish the opportunity to work with such a wonderful team to promote a top-notch list of designers. Today, we’re pleased to highlight two amazing Moda & Aurifil Designers, Pat Sloan and Me & My Sister Designs.

PAT SLOAN
Where do we even begin with our love for Pat Sloan?? If you’re an Aurifil fan, you already know how much of a champion Pat is for our threads. She is the creative mind behind our Aurifil Designer of the Month Program (patterns available here), has released countless Aurifil thread collections, and is truly a tireless road warrior for the sewing tools and notions that she loves. We’re pretty sure our company wouldn’t be the same without her and are honored to call her a friend and colleague. Also, Pat’s designs? Always stunning!!

Pat has a slew of active collections with us — truly everything you’d need to dive right into quilting! Her most recent is Let’s Go Sew, available in both LG & SM boxes. While the collection was designed to coordinate with her Moda collection, the colors are incredibly versatile and would work with so many different fabrics!

Pat’s Perfect Boxes of Threads are excellent kits for both the beginner and experience quilter as well. Perfect Box of Neutrals is available in both 40wt and 50wtPerfect Box of Colors is available in 50wt only.

Pat was kind enough to share some thoughts with us about why she loves working with both Moda & Aurifil so much:). Thank you Pat!

What do you love most about working with Aurifil Threads?
Do you have time to read a novel? The cliff notes are that Aurifil produces the most beautiful and consistent thread for quilters to work with. With an amazing number of colors, I always find what I’m looking for. But the best part is how smart the company is. If I love a certain shade of 50wt thread, let’s say Aqua #2830,  I can get that exact same shade in 40wt, 28wt, and 12wt.

Why do you love Moda Fabrics?
I’ve used Moda fabrics in my quilts from the beginning. When I went into business I found that Moda’s wide range of styles enabled me to be the best designer I could be. I love to mix and match between lines and pull in their vast array of basics. Moda is also one of my amazing business partners. When I started my podcast they were the first ones to jump in to be a sponsor of my show for American Patchwork & Quilting. They are also a huge supporter of my collaboration projects like the Splendid Sampler. They provided all the fabrics for our design team and made the project truly amazing.

My new favorite Aurifil thread group?
The Limited edition Train case! It pairs perfectly with my American Patchwork & quilting challenge quilt where I used my Sunday Drive line from Moda paired with my buddy Kate Spain’s Grand Canal line.

Did you know… Pat has a quilt exhibit at the Virginia Quilt Museum in Harrisonburg, VA through December of this year!!

ABOUT PAT
Website — Blog — Facebook — Facebook Group — Twitter — Instagram

Pat Sloan is a designer, author, and lecturer, and with her weekly radio show, Pat truly is the “Voice of Quilting”. She has a deep passion for making quilting fun for herself and everyone around her. Pat loves to hang out with quilters on the internet as well as visit you in person. Be inspired to get more done!

Having sewn since she was a child and quilted for over 20 years, Pat eventually looked to her craft as a business. After a few years quilting she started to teach quilt making to others and then turned her skills to pattern designing. She found that she really enjoys designing and seeing how other quilters made her patterns. In 2000 Pat’s designs became so popular that she and her husband Gregg formed a design and publishing company called Pat Sloan & Co. In addition to designing and publishing her work, they now travel around the country teaching and showing her quilts to quilt guilds and quilt shops. Also, Pat has had her designs published in all the national magazines, she has written 31 quilt books and has designed many lines of fabric for Moda Fabrics.

ME & MY SISTER DESIGNS
Barb and Mary are the sisters behind the super sweet designs at Me & My Sisters Designs. Their fabrics for Moda are full of bright colors and their patterns help those colors to pop against a background of white. We were honored to work with them on Everyday Color! a few years back, the perfect companion to a variety of their fabric collections! It is available in both Large and Small boxes of those scrumptious colors!

One of the things that we love most about Everyday Color is how versatile it is. If you are a fan of Barb & Mary’s fabrics, this is the one box you’ll need! The colors work perfectly with so many of their collections with Moda, including Confetti, Frolic, Rainy Day, and Brighten Up!

What do you love most about working with Aurifil Threads?
The fabulous colors!

Why do you love Moda Fabrics?
The wonderful designs to choose from… and it’s like working with family!

And just for fun…

ABOUT BARB & MARY
WebsiteBlogFacebookInstagramPinterest

Barbara Groves and Mary Jacobson have had their hands in just about every aspect of quilting.

These one-time shop owners grew a business out of their love of making quilts – Me & My Sister Designs. They’ve designed fabric for Moda for more than ten years, developed the SideWinder portable bobbin-winder and designed hundreds of quilts that they’ve published in books and patterns.

Barbara and Mary love infusing what they call “everyday color” into their fabrics and then using those fabrics to transform traditional pattern designs into bright, vibrant quilts.
