The Scottish Quilting Show

The Scottish Quilting Show kicked off last Thursday and ran through Saturday, filling the space with color, creativity, and inspiration. Visitors enjoyed a vibrant quilt exhibition, a full schedule of workshops, hands-on Make & Takes, and an impressive lineup of vendor booths.

Two special exhibits from beloved UK makers Jo Avery and Sheena Norquay were standout highlights, celebrating the artistry and innovation that continue to inspire quilters around the world.

Aurifil was proud to sponsor this year’s show, awarding prizes in both the Professional Maker category and the Under 16s Quilter category.

Supporting both emerging and established makers is something we care deeply about, and we were honored to celebrate the incredible talent on display.

HUGE congratulations to all the winners AND to all of those makers showing quilts at the show. It was a stunning event!

Sewing for Pleasure

Birmingham NEC | March 12–15

Next up is Sewing for Pleasure, taking place this week at the Birmingham NEC. This much-loved specialist show brings together the very best in soft crafts, with an inspiring mix of fabric suppliers, yarns, haberdashery, patterns, threads, and expert-led demonstrations. Whether you enjoy garment sewing, quilting, crochet, or hand stitching, there’s something here for every maker.

Aurifil is especially excited to once again sponsor the Proud Lounge in partnership with We Sew Too and Aurifil Designer Clive Bruder. Now in its third year, the Proud Lounge continues to grow as a colorful, welcoming, and supportive space celebrating inclusivity and diversity within the sewing community. This year promises to be bolder, brighter, and full of new ideas, with a spotlight on “reborn” fashion.

Visitors can also meet special guest Lu (@Luinluland), an accidental middle-aged influencer arriving with her beloved vintage Bluebird bus, filled with fashion looks ready to try on. Lu’s mission is to challenge myths about midlife and menopause while encouraging women to rediscover confidence and step outside their comfort zones.

Alongside impromptu fashion shows, the Proud Lounge will feature:

• Drop-in crafting and stitching sessions
• Embroidery machines from Brother
• Hand stitching with Sew Happy Quilters
• Threads from Aurifil and fabrics from Minerva
• 3D printing demonstrations from GM Crafts UK

Join Clive and the #WESEWTOO community to swap stories, learn a new skill, and enjoy a little fashion fun along the way.
