Africa has always been a great source of inspiration for textile designers throughout the world. The rich variety of wildlife and flora as well as the striking combinations of colour and bold designs created by the African people, lend an exotic edge to ones imagination. In this range, which we have called Wild Things, we have used 3 patterns taken from the shapes and textures to be found in animal prints and teamed them with another pattern inspired by African design. This last pattern shows the bold effect created by the use of resist dyes and stencils, which were often cut from bark, leaves or other natural fibres and these techniques were used by many different tribes and areas in Africa. Along side these we have added contrast with a textured plain, taken from our misty range of fabrics, and a popular panel featuring 4 different images of African animals, an elephant, giraffe, zebra and lion. 3 different colourways have been used to tone in with the natural colours to be found in the African landscape quilt instructions dowload
