The Nordik Quilt Träffe (Nordic Quilt Meeting) took place in Goteborg last May. This event is organized by the Scandinavian guilds, including Finland and Iceland every 3 years. The 2009 event took place in the 2nd city of Sweden, Göteborg.
Quilts were shown in Museums, exhibition halls and in a beautiful Island reachable by boat, in an old fisher’s barn.
A beautiful contest enabled us to see works traditional as well as contemporary, while each Scandinavian guild members were exhibiting some of their works.
The winner of the contemporary contest, Turid Tonnessen is well known to us, as she won the Aurifil price last year in Ste Marie aux Mines at the European Patchwork Meeting and she is among our artists.
A gala dinner on Saturday evening allowed tthe attending visitors to have a lot of fun while dining enjoying the sunset at sea.
Next Meeting will tak place in 2012, but the host country has not yet been announced
