2015 Fall Quilt Market Part 2

Welcome back to 2015 Quilt Market Part 2!  There is never enough space to put the grandness of Quilt Market into one post.  Market needs to be at least two to three days longer ( and two posts longer) to be able to process at least half of what is happening or what has happened!  Hoping you enjoy Part 2 of Market!

QuiltMarket-2

There is never a lack of activities for shops at Market!  On the day prior to Market officially opening, there are Schoolhouses.  Schoolhouses are designed to educate and inspire shops to help their customers to find the right tools, fabrics and knowledge for every project!

Aurifil’s Schoolhouses were by different areas of the quilting industry. Fabric house, Island Batik, designers Wendy Sheppard and Jinny Beyer, and Alex Veronelli.

The first was Island Batik Fabrics with their lovely new collections! The one being shown is Tinsel!  Each of the four newest fabric collections has an Aurifil thread collection to match! Perfect colors for every one!

Wendy Sheppard from Ivory Spring was the Second in the series.  Wendy is a scientist turned quilter.  She has been featured in just about every quilting magazine on the planet with her beautiful quilts that are all quilted on her domestic home machine!  Wendy has a new Aurifil Collection and explained how she came to use Aurifil 50wt and why she believes it is the perfect choice for all quilters for it’s strength and beauty!

Wendy’s stunning quilt was on display in the Aurifil booth during Market and will be going on tour with Alex for his lectures in Aurifil Quilt Shops, Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this beauty!  Also, keep on the lookout for a possible pattern for this beauty!

The talented Jinny Beyer was in the schoolhouse next!  Jinny’s insightful lecture was about thread weight uses.  With so many weights to choose from, how do you know what is the correct one for your project? Jinny shared what she uses and why.

Alex assisted her by holding up one of her quilts as an example.

Alex was the final lecture for the day.  The topic of his discussion was the overwhelmingly popular Aurifil lectures.  This lecture is available only to Aurifil shops. This exciting lecture is approximately 90 minutes of engaging video that takes you behind the scenes of the Aurifil factory, inside the research and development of the thread, a short lecture about the recommended uses and care for the threads, then concludes with an array of stunning artworks from the industries top designers.  Alex explained how the program works, why it is so popular and added in that there are gifts and giveaways of Aurifil at every session! What is not to love?

  1. Thanks for sharing: I loved all the pics! And will you be posting a list of the quilt stores that will be hosting the Aurifil Thread seminars? We don’t have a local quilt shop to ask to do it, so a list would be wonderful so I could see what store is closest to me. Thanks!! I’m in Healdsburg, Calf, by the way.
