Susan Emory – Hello Blog Hop

Happy Monday!! Today we are thrilled to be a part of Susan Emory‘s Hello Blog Hop celebrating her newest fabric line with Michael Miller Fabrics & the coordinating Aurifil thread collection! Our very own Hilary Jordan, also of Young Texan Mama, dove right into this one and made a quilt, so we’ll turn Auribuzz over to her for of the fun details. Hello is full of bright vibrant colors that will be the perfect addition to your fabric and thread stash. 😉

I always love the opportunity to create something for work because receiving boxes of fabric is the best kind of mail, and this fabric from Susan was no exception! My favorite prints from the collection include the bracket stripe, call me!, and the hashtag texture. I adore the saturated colors. When it came to deciding what to make, I knew that I wanted to create a quilt where I could fussy cut the Call Me! telephone print.

Hello 2

The pattern I selected to work with was the Beads Quilt from the book By the Bundle by Emma Jean Jansen. All of the circles are raw edge applique, and I stitched them down using the coordinating colors from Susan’s Hello Aurifil thread collection. When I did the quilting, I stitched vertical lines down the quilt but left the circles un-quilted so they would slightly pop out from the background.

Hello 3

I have two little boys, and this poor quilt has already been the victim of several food related accidents and has needed to be washed 4 times since it was finished in May! But I love that the washing has caused the edges of the circles to take on a soft flocked texture. Each of the circles was fused into place with Therm O Web feather lite fusible interfacing, so it is so soft and doesn’t have that paper like texture of a heavier fusible.

  1. The prints are wonderful and a wonderful quilt was made with them. Love the range of matching colors of thread.

  2. Having a wonderful quilt that gets used is the best! Knowing that it looks even better after each washing is even better! I really like the frayed-edge look of the circles and they do really pop on the white background. Hello is such a great collection and looks like it’s super fun to create with!

  3. There are some interesting closing dates in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them center to heart. There is some validity however I’ll take hold opinion until I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we would like more! Added to FeedBurner as nicely
