We are thrilled to be a stop on the hop for Text It! by Sherri Noel of Rebecca Mae Designs for Martingale/That Patchwork Place.
Sherri’s book is beautifully organized with 10 stunning projects featuring text in all shapes and sizes. There are 7 full sized alphabets included as pull-out/fold-out patterns that make completing Sherri’s projects a breeze.

She includes a section dedicated to appliqué techniques and tips, a wonderful resource for both experts and beginners. We love that Sherri arms readers with projects that boost creativity and shares tools and templates to allow them to branch out with their own text-based designs.

I committed to testing out a project in celebration of the book release. I couldn’t help but pick the Hustle Pillow.
As a working parent with a demanding (but amazing) job, two young kiddos, and a plethora of other commitments, Hustle Every Day is pretty much a mantra. I chose to make it as a wall hanging to display proudly in my home office as a reminder of the strength and drive that we all show within our day-to-day. Shout out to all of those who identify with this phrase as much as I do!
Sherri’s instructions were super easy to follow, making completing the project much easier than I’d expected. I’ve been really into chain-piecing lately, and it definitely saved me some time. I started out by creating the blocks on the bottom and then shifted to the appliqué.

I traced my letters onto my one remaining sheet of double sided fusible web — a huge relief as it truly does make things a million times easier — with the help from my Wafer Lightbox from the Daylight Company. I can’t tell you how much easier the tracing is with this magical thing. No more taping everything up on the glass of my front door!
I went with a faced binding instead of a traditional binding and really love how it looks! If you’re curious about doing faced bindings, I got the idea from Kitty of Night Quilter via this post and used this recommended tutorial from Victoria of The Silly BooDilly.
Finally, I used fabrics from FRIEDLANDER by Carolyn Friedlander for Robert Kaufman, my go-to spool of Aurifil 50wt in 2021, and some of my favorite Olfa tools to put it all together.
Thanks so much to Sherri for including Aurifil in all of this fun! We love this book!

Love this project!
I like your larger version of the pillow. What a great motto for someone in business.
Love your project. I might have to try the binding like that. Love the banner at the top of your blog too with the thread spools as vases! So clever and cute. Would love a chance to win this book. I love Sherris patterns and all the ones I have tried so far have always been “perfect”.
Fabulous project.
