Spring Quilt Market, Kansas City Style

We are a little over a week post-Market and somehow the energy and excitement of it all still feels wildly present. We arrived home in a whirlwind — still reeling from meetings and booth visits, schoolhouses and showcases. It’s amazing how much inspiration can be soaked up in such a short period of time.

We never tire of the opportunities that Market offers. We love connecting with our partners and designers and feel energized after making new connections, checking out all of the product launches, and working through countless brainstorming sessions on ways to collaborate with other creatives in the industry.

As we sift through hundreds upon thousands of photos heralding all of the hard work, stacks of business cards representing new connections and forthcoming plans, and countless memories of good times with new and old friends, we have to take a pause to reflect, admire, and share. We loved every moment. <3

For Kansas City, we kept things simple and followed our booth layout made popular in 2018. We went for a sensory experience with minimalist design featuring plush carpeting, lush greenery, cushy meeting chairs, and soft music.

Our goal is always to create an inviting space in which our customers and partners can both meet and relax. Our chairs were rarely empty, so we feel like that goal was achieved!

We celebrated color both with our full range of 270 thread colors on display and with a variety of projects created by a handful of our beloved Aurifil Designers & Artisans. We also showcased 6 custom stitched Aurifil thread weight samples by Karen Miller of Redbird Quilt Co. These samples were always on hand to share with customers.

We were thrilled to present 16 spectacular new collections to the Aurifil collection family. Collections spanned from veteran Aurifil Designers like Tula Pink, Lori Holt, and Pat Sloan to some new faces like Beverly McCullough (Flamingo Toes) and Stacie Bloomfield (Gingiber). We are head over heels and just know you will be too. Stay tuned to the blog for collection features!

DEMOS
This time, we focused our Facebook Live events on demos highlighting the work of some of our Spring Collection Designers. Sarah Thomas of Sariditty, Susan Ache of @yardgrl60 (on IG), Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic, and Carolyn Friedlander were kind enough to share project ideas, stitch tips, and creative inspiration with thousands of followers worldwide. Thank you to these four remarkable women. If you missed them live on FB, simply click on the images below to take a peek.

AURIFIL FUN FIVE
The Aurifil Fun Five featured a series of Aurifil Designers, Artisans, Staff, and Industry Partners answering 5 rapid questions. Two of those questions were standard for everyone… the remaining three were randomly drawn and inspired by Vogue’s 73 Questions series. We had so much fun and it seems the interviewees did as well!

AROUND MARKET
While we certainly love crafting our booth to perfection and hosting friends and partners, nothing makes us happier than walking the Market floor, getting to see the artfully constructed booths, checking out the new product launches, and basking in the true excitement of the event. We wish we could spend all our time walking the aisles — but we visit who we can and grab photos to remember the beauty of it all.
