The Collecting Colors SAL with Susan Ache (@yardgrl60) is an 8 month FREE Cross Stitch Along that gives stitch enthusiasts the opportunity to create a mini masterpiece while building a library of luscious Aurifloss.
Susan arranged the SAL like a menu…
January — Appetizer
This will be all of the sashing and fill.
February through July — Entrées
These are the main blocks in the “quilt” sampler.
August — Dessert
This is the border and the finishing of the sampler!
We kicked things off last month with the Appetizer — the framework for 12 cross stitched quilt blocks.
The sashing featured Aurifloss in color 2318, with the option to work with colors 6729, 2425, 1114, 2725, 5002 for the fill. We provided both charts and have seen many of you stitching along!
Today, we’re excited to present our first two Entrées, Blocks One & Two. Click on the button below to grab the PDF patterns.
As promised, these blocks will add the following colors to your Aurifloss library: 5002, 1114, 2715, 2908, 2420, 2021, 2535, 2479, 2850, 6729, & 5015.
As we look forward to March, we’ll give you the colors you’ll need for the next two Entrée blocks, 3 & 4. Those colors are:
- 2021 (from block 2)
- 2725 (from the sashing)
- 2710
- 2425 (from the sashing)
- 2140
- 2130
- 2390
- 2865
- 2815
- 2205
- 5007
All of these colors are available, so please, if you’re looking to find all the floss needed to work through this fabulous stitchy delight, check with your local quilt shop!

I love cross stitch … I am 82 now but cross stitching was one of the first embroidery stitches I learned at a very young age. I easily adopted counted cross stitch way back when …. long before I started quilting. This is going to be absolutely lovely. Thank you for sharing …
I see your floss but it seems unattainable to purchase. I’d suggest you sell families of colors or primaries etc. I owned a Counted Cross Stitch business for seven years & learned the 350 DMC colors. How are your colors & floss different? How do you market your threads? Your emails are great but it’s not clear how to order threads or patterns.
I don’t do cross stitch but I’m thinking I might need to learn how. These examples are beautiful.
There needs to be a single landing page for all the patterns to be found as they are released. Too much having to hunt on the site for the individual pieces of the pattern.
Or at the very least, each post should have links to the other posts with the patterns.
Totally agree!!!!! I have spent many hours trying to get blocks 1 and 2 and only did because I gave up on the Aurifil website and googled it and then it came up.lf you want people to participate and use your floss you need to make it much much easier to find the charts. This has been ridiculous!!!
