Collecting Colors SAL, March

The Collecting Colors SAL with Susan Ache (@yardgrl60) is an 8 month FREE Cross Stitch Along that gives stitch enthusiasts the opportunity to create a  mini masterpiece while building a library of luscious Aurifloss.

Susan arranged the SAL like a menu…

January — Appetizer
This will be all of the sashing and fill.

February through July — Entrées
These are the main blocks in the “quilt” sampler.

August — Dessert
This is the border and the finishing of the sampler!

If you’ve been stitching along, you’ve likely already completed the Appetizer and the first 2 Entrées (shown below) — if you’re just joining us, have no fear, there is still plenty of time to get caught up!

Today, we’re excited to present two new Entrées, Blocks Three & Four.

(Click on the button below to grab the PDF patterns.)

As promised, these blocks will add the following colors to your Aurifloss library:

Block 3 — 2021, 2725, 2710, 2425, 2140, & 2130
Block 4 — 2390, 2865, 2815, 2205, 5007

And… because we’re collecting colors, you’ll note that 3 of the colors listed above are ones that you already had in your stash! 2021 was used in block 2 and both 2725 and 2425 were used in the sashing.

As we look forward to April, we’ll give you the colors you’ll need for the next two Entrée blocks, 5 & 6. Those colors are:

  • 5002 (from the sashing)
  • 2140 (from block 3)
  • 2735
  • 2845
  • 2021 (from blocks 2 & 3)
  • 1243
  • 2510
  • 2435
  • 2415
  • 5006

All of these colors are available, so please, if you’re looking to find all the floss needed to work through this fabulous stitchy delight, check with your local quilt shop!

If you’re stitching along, don’t forget to tag #collectingcolorssal so we can see your progress! Have a great month stitching, and we’ll be back next month with some more delectable entrées.

Huge Thanks to Susan — we’re so excited to see your progress as this SAL progresses!!

ABOUT SUSAN
InstagramSusan’s Book
A love of color makes it easy for Susan to grab inspiration from her native Florida surroundings. With no grand idea other than knowing she wanted embroidery and nine patches in her first quilt, a new world opened up to this mom of now five grown children. Being self taught with many hours of reading about the makings of a quilt and quilt blocks has made this an a lifelong passion. Susan is always searching for new and fun ways to show off as many colors as she can in a quilt. Most of her quilts are a creative impulse from trips to the garden center, a photograph, or browsing through paint chip selections. “I really never see just the quilt, I seem to see the quilt in the room that it belongs in”.  Working in a quilt store for years helped Susan to pursue that passion of color and the fabric inspired life she enjoys while constantly striving to make her next favorite quilt.
