If you’re like us, the holiday spirit is strong this year. The sweet sounds of Bing Crosby, Brenda Lee, and Ella Fitzgerald have taken over your home, and the every day décor has shifted from those rich Autumn tones to all things cool, crisp, and Winter! We could certainly use a bit of extra magic this year, so we simply had to revisit Merry Stitch-Mas, originally introduced as a 25-day stitch along featuring a slew of fabulous and festive cross stitch minis.

These patterns are perfect whether you’re looking to expand your own holiday stash of cross stitch decorations, whip up a few gift tags, or even create a full sampler featuring all of the motifs. Whatever your preference, there is still time to stitch up something special!

All 25 patterns are available as FREE downloads on our website. We love them all, but today we want to shine a light on the 4 guest patterns generously offered by four phenomenal designers: Susan Ache, Beverly McCullough, Wendy Sheppard, & Kimberly Jolly with Fat Quarter Shop.

Stitchy Pocket Watches — by Susan Ache
This is such a quick project and I am guessing you have all of the supplies right at home and at your fingertips. I have made several of these before and it’s always fun to see if I can come up with a stitch that fits the little circle. What a great little gift tag idea that will also then look cute on the Christmas Tree.
I used scrap linen — you only need a tiny bit — so hunt around in your stash before you go and buy. Once the little cross stitch was completed, I pressed it completely and then just for an extra bit of stability I pressed a lightweight fusible interfacing on the back. Traditional Christmas colors just seemed so perfect. I chose 2277 for red and 2865 for green embroidery floss using 2 strands.
Quilt Star Snowflake Ornament by Bev McCullough
I love making handmade ornaments, especially stitched ornaments. In fact I do a DIY Ornament week every year – you can see them all here! This ornament combines my love of stitching and quilting with the snowflake design that incorporates a quilt star in the center.
Stitched Ornaments also make fabulous gifts, gift toppers and they’ll make you the star of an ornament exchange!
Little Christmas Tree by Wendy Sheppard
At my house, we look forward to Christmas all year round. My daughter would be planning for the next Christmas before Christmas is over. And if it were up to the two of us, our house would be decorated for Christmas all year round!
Christmas stitching holds a very special place in my heart as well — you see, I taught my daughter how to stitch when she was 5. That year, she stitched 2 Christmas Ornaments and ever since then, we have stitched at least one Christmas ornament to place on our Christmas tree.
Sparkly Snowflakes by Kimberly Jolly and Fat Quarter Shop
Kimberly and her team charted up this sweet Sparkly Snowflakes chart just for you.
Using 5 colors from our Merry Stitch-Mas box, this project would be a perfect addition to any home’s holiday décor. We can’t wait to see how you make it your own! Where do you get the wooden hearts to stitch on by Elly Destro?
Hi, Inger! My apologies for the delayed response! I’ve bought the wooden hearts at a consumer craft show in Italy last year, but you can find a great offer on Etsy (including shapes like cat, snowman, cloud, etc.). Take a look here: https://www.etsy.com/it/market/wooden_cross_stitch
Merry Christmas!
