Today we are thrilled to share another amazing showcase of our Aurifil Artisan team! For the month of May we tasked our Artisans with trying their hand at garment sewing in the spirit of Me Made May! While this is second nature for many of them, for some it was a new adventure. As always their makes are absolutely spectacular and inspiring.

Jamie – ” Happy #memademay / #memadegay everyone! To honor this month of making, I made Andy the Hughes dress from Friday Pattern Co. with my favorite all purpose thread, Aurifil 50wt.
Erin – “As a quilter, I am familiar with my machine, and how to follow a pattern but I’ve only dabbled in garment sewing, and that was many years ago! I am so happy I took the leap because I LOVE THIS TOP! I used 50wt thread (2630) to make this Cielo Top from Closet Core Patterns.”
Eliane – “I’ve been making (and loving!) quilt coats! This modern quilt coat made with the Patchwork Chore Coat pattern features my Misty Mountains quilt pattern on the back. The coat has a hood and a zipper closure. I used Aurifil 50 weight thread for all the quilting and coat construction. Quilt coats can be modern and a fun addition to your wardrobe!”
Elise – “Sailor top by Fancy Tiger Crafts with Dilly Flower appliqué all made using Aurifil 50wt thread #2021”
Henrik – “We have a new baby in the house. Some of you may follow me on Instagram or may have read my new Artisan statement and have noticed that I am now a double daddy. Well if you haven’t: I am exhausted, happy and ofttimes covered in vomit. Anyway… A new baby requires new clothes. Initially I thought I did not need to make any new clothes because we kept all the clothes from our first born. When we got them out of the basement and sorted them we noticed that they do not look nearly as nice as I remembered them. Colours washed out, dismal sewing skills… they needed replacement.”
Martha – “I usually make quilts and smaller items rather than wearable items. I self drafted the pattern for a reversible cross back apron, which was swiftly claimed by my daughter! It came together easily using 50wt Aurifil for construction as well as top stitching.”
Is garment sewing part of your everyday sewing, or is it a new skill? We hope our Artisans have inspired you to try your hand at a bit of garment sewing. ❤
