Laurie Simpson has long been a mainstay in the quilting world. She’s been quilting on her own for 48 years, 16 of which were spent as one half of the storied design duo, Minick & Simpson, alongside her sister Polly. Laurie was the quilter of the two, known for her quilts, her patterns, and her magnificent appliqué. Polly claims to have never sewn a stitch, but her hooked rugs are epic, and were what helped to initially catch the eye of the folks at Moda Fabrics. Together, they designed more than 40 fabric collections, released oodles of quilt patterns, wrote a handful of books, were featured in numerous magazines – national and international, and traveled across the US and abroad to teach.
Since Polly’s retirement 3 years ago, Laurie has continued designing for Moda Fabrics, releasing 6 spectacular new fabric collections and a wonderful array of patterns. Her latest collection to hit the shelves is Roselyn, a gorgeous range of red & white prints inspired by Laurie’s love for peppermints & polka dots and a vintage restaurant china collection often found in diners.
We love the variations on red, white, and cream that the collection offers and have fallen head over heels for the patterns Laurie created to highlight each and every one.

One of Laurie’s patterns, Stitched, caught the eye of Susan Ache (@yardgrl60), who couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stitch up a coordinating mini cross stitch masterpiece. Isn’t it fabulous?
