We love Pat Sloan. Not only is she a true industry icon, she is also one of the sweetest people we know. She has written over 30 books, has designed hundreds of quilts, has put together countless fabric collections (currently for Benartex), curates thread collections for Aurifil, oversees the largest quilting community on Facebook, hosts daily YouTube videos, and still manages to keep making, creating, and keeping her designs fresh and accessible.
She is a tireless crusader for quilting and sewing education and is generally seen as an inspiration to all;). So… today is our ‘we love Pat’ day because Pat is just amazing!
Back in February, we had the pleasure of launching a brand new thread collaboration, The Perfect Little Box of Colors. This is the continuation of wildly successful series of curated collections that we’ve worked on together over the years… The Perfect Box of Colors, The Perfect Box of Neutrals (in both 50wt & 40wt!), & The Perfect Little Box of Neutrals. This latest release ensures that every sewist and quilter out there can grab a box full of the perfect range of colors or neutrals designed to accentuate and celebrate all of those fabulous projects in progress. Click on any of the buttons below to shop Pat’s collections!
”Every quilter needs that ‘perfect’ set of colors to work with… the ones that will match most fabric, and be at the ready for sewing all the things. My Perfect Box of Colors hits the spot with lights and darks!”Pat Sloan
The release came at a perfect time– Pat has so many amazing things happening this year! Her latest book, Tantalizing Table Toppers, released last month, and the celebratory book/blog tour will kick off on Monday.
Featuring a top notch group of designers, this event will share a fabulous range of tabletop art, provide the opportunity to win a copy of the book at each and every stop, and will engage makers, allowing them to soak up a whole slew of inspiration along the way.
Make sure to visit Pat’s blog on Monday for all the details and for a road map of where to go each day next week. (hint: come back here on Thursday, May 26 to see what our fabulous in house makers whip up!)
Birdsong, Pat’s latest fabric collection with Benartex, is hitting stores now. We are head over heels for this one…
Pat’s stylized birds provide a folk art elegance and the coordinates add lots of colorful depth and texture. There are featured friends, stunning florals, and, as typical with Pat, all were created with quilters in mind. There is even a focal panel giving beginners a chance to shine, and quilters a chance to practice their free motion quilting skills!
Pat will host a tour in support of this new range this Summer. We’ll be taking part and have a sneaking suspicion that you’re going to LOVE what our Social Media Manager Hilary Jordan creates with these prints. She’ll join a wonderful roster of makers, guaranteeing an inspirational and exciting event!
Whatever you plan to create this Spring/Summer, Pat has made sure that you’ll have the absolute perfect threads to make it all happen. Find your new favorite Pat Sloan collection via the link below and make sure to share your projects with us on IG via @aurifilthread, #aurifil, #aurifilthread, & @quilterpatsloan so we can cheer you on!
Pat Sloan is a designer, author, and lecturer with a deep passion for making quilting fun for herself and everyone around her. Pat loves to hang out with quilters on the internet as well as visit you in person. Be inspired to get more done!
Having sewn since she was a child and quilted for over 20 years, Pat eventually looked to her craft as a business. After a few years quilting she started to teach quilt making to others and then turned her skills to pattern designing. She found that she really enjoys designing and seeing how other quilters made her patterns. In 2000 Pat’s designs became so popular that she and her husband Gregg formed a design and publishing company called Pat Sloan & Co. Pat has had her designs published in all the national quilting magazines, has written over 30 quilt books and has designed many lines of fabric, including current collections with Benartex.
