The Stitch Festival was launched in February 2020 at the Business Design Centre by Upper Street Events (part of Immediate Media). Previously known as The Spring Knitting & Stitching Show, which took place at Olympia, London (the Spring version of The K&S Show in Alexandra Palace), The Stitch Festival was introduced to offer something a little different for the modern maker.
Taking place in the heart of Islington, one of London’s most vibrant and diverse areas, The Stitch Festival serves the sewing community as well as those interested in crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, embroidery, and other contemporary crafts. You’ll find yourself surrounded by color and creativity with everything from crochet and embroidery to macramé and cross-stitch. It’s a delightful day out for creative people!

The Stitch Festival isn’t just an event; it’s an immersive experience where your Instagram feed comes to life. From contemporary dressmaking to intricate embroidery, this show caters to every sewing enthusiast’s dream. Imagine strolling through aisles filled with independent brands and small businesses, discovering the latest fabric designs, patterns, kits, and tools that ignite your creative spark.
Prepare to be inspired by captivating displays from leading designers, showcasing the latest trends and techniques in the world of sewing. And if that’s not enough, indulge in catwalk shows, demonstrations, and engaging Q&A sessions with your favorite sewing celebrities. It’s a chance to learn, connect, and be part of a community that shares your passion for all things stitching.

Stitch-School Community Project Returns!
One of the most anticipated events at the Stitch Festival is the return of our beloved Community Embroidery Extravaganza, hosted by the talented Stitch-School. Picture this: amidst the bustling excitement of the festival, there’s a serene oasis where visitors can gather around a three-meter linen cloth stretched across the Stitch-School embroidery table. This magnificent canvas, begun at last year’s festival, beckons attendees to leave their mark, stitching a piece of themselves into its intricate tapestry.

Under the gentle guidance of Stitch-School tutors, participants are invited to delve into the rich history and origins of embroidery stitches. It’s not just about the act of stitching; it’s a journey through time and tradition, a chance to connect with centuries of craftsmanship. Participants can immerse themselves in this mindful and creative project using the finest Aurifil floss threads, renowned for their unparalleled quality and vibrant hues, elevating each stitch, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Stitch-School was founded in 2017 by the visionary Melanie Bowles, and is more than just a place to learn embroidery—it’s a sanctuary for creativity, a haven where enthusiasts can rediscover the joy of this craft. Through bespoke embroidery kits, workshops, and community events, Stitch-School breathes new life into an age-old art form, inspiring individuals to embrace their inner artist and unleash their imagination.

Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a curious novice, the Stitch Festival promises a day of discovery, inspiration, and camaraderie. So mark your calendars, gather your friends, and join us for an unforgettable celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. We’ll see you there!
