No Tricks, All Treats!

Sometimes, we’re simply so entranced by an idea that Susan Ache (@yardgrl60) sends our way, we just have to share it right away. That’s exactly what happened with her Trick or Treat collection, released in August of 2023.

To set the scene, let’s start from the beginning… Back in 2019, Susan charted up the most fabulous little spooky cross stitch, aptly titled Little Quaker Halloween. It was one of her infamous free charts, offered to all, in honor of a holiday that had always been a family favorite.

Halloween is taken seriously at my house.  For one night my front yard and doorway are transformed into a spooky retreat.  Costumes are mandatory if you want to participate in my family night. And of course, let’s not forget the spooky music coming through speakers placed all around the yard. The neighbors wait every year to see what we have added or changed and we wait to see how many more people we can scare.

This chart became one of Susan’s all-time most downloaded cross stitch charts because, well, people just love Halloween! We continued to share the chart year after year, until… Susan approached us in early 2023 with the top secret news that she was working on a Halloween book with It’s Sew Emma & Fat Quarter Shop.

The super cool thing about the book was that it promised to heavily feature both quilts and cross stitch charts– Susan’s two creative passions. Susan was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to work through all the fun collection ideas that might complement the book. She dove into her cross stitch ideas and found the perfect feature chart to partner with a brand new curated set of 10 Small Spools of Aurifloss– Trick or Treat. This one sits fully in the spirit of Halloween, reminding us of a childhood filled with homemade costumes, neighborhood adventures, and more candy than a kid could ever dream of! The chart features 6 of the 10 spools of floss included in Susan’s thread set. Today, we are delighted to introduce the full Halloween Memories book, which includes a glorious range of nine spooky scary charts featuring all 10 Trick or Treat hues that will have you firmly in that Halloween Spirit in no time at all!

The book also features 8 brand new quilts, including the Moonlight Quilt which will launch as a Sew Along next week. Join Susan Ache and friends for the nine-part sew along from August 20 to October 15. There will be tips, ideas, and a handful of giveaways along the way. If you’re interested in participating, you can download the fabric requirements now and find all the details by clicking HERE.

And in case that wasn’t all exciting enough, the fine folks at FQS are also hosting a giveaway for one Trick or Treat collection over on their blog. To enter, simply click on the button below.

Did we get you in the Halloween Spirit? Feeling inspired? What will you stitch first — a quilt or a cross stitch? Be sure to tag us all on IG with your project photos so that we can applaud you and your work. Susan is also the BEST stitchy cheerleader!
