Dresden Summer Stitch Along, Week 4

We’re officially in the second half of the Dresden Summer Stitch Along and the inspiration just keeps growing! It’s been such a joy to watch your Dresden Plates come together—each one made even more special with those beautiful hand-stitched centers.

Today we’re excited to release the Week 4 embroidery pattern, another charming design to bring your next block to life. Whether you’re stitching along in real time or pacing things out, there’s still plenty of time to enjoy the process.

This project, dreamed up by the wonderfully creative Susan Ache (@yardgrl60), is all about celebrating your love of stitching—with a little help from two of her favorite creative partners: Moda Fabrics and Aurifil. We’re thrilled to continue providing the perfect threads to make your embroidery shine.

Hello again, stitching friends! It’s Susan Ache here (@yardgrl60 on Instagram), and would you believe it… we’re already at Week 4 of our Dresden Summer Stitch Along! How is time moving this fast? I swear I just put my embroidery bag together for Week 1 and blinked.

So—how are things going? Have you found a good stitching rhythm? Maybe you’re on track with all the embroidery centers, maybe you’re working ahead (you overachievers!), or maybe you’ve been collecting the patterns to enjoy once the back-to-school season gives you a little more time. However you’re approaching it, I hope it feels fun, relaxing, and like a little creative escape. That’s really the whole goal.

This week, I’m super curious… have any of you started your actual Dresden plates yet? I know some of you were already digging through your scrap bins way back in Week 1, and if you’re anything like me, once you get into that fabric zone, it’s hard to stop. I always say that stitching and prepping go hand-in-hand, and while I love the embroidery centers, seeing the Dresdens start to form around them is where the real magic starts to show up!

Me? I’m a bit of a jump-around kind of stitcher. I’ll trace a few centers, stitch a couple, maybe prep a few fans… and then bounce back to stitching with my feet up and a fresh iced coffee by my side. It’s summer, after all—everything should feel just a little bit looser, slower, and easier.

As always, you’ll find your next embroidery pattern download below. We’re more than halfway through the embroidery portion now (can you believe it?) and I just want to remind you again: there is zero pressure here. I’ll keep saying it—this is your stitch along, your pace, your project. Whether you’re showing off your progress on Instagram or just quietly stitching in the background, I’m so happy you’re here with us.

Keep going, keep stitching, and keep enjoying your summer. I’ll be back in 2 weeks with another update and two more patterns to add to your growing collection! Thanks for stitching along with us!
— Susan

Whether you’re a longtime fan of Dresden blocks or trying your hand at embroidery for the first time, this is a project designed for joy, exploration, and a whole lot of summer stitching fun. We can’t wait to see your take on these joyful blocks. Happy stitching, and stay tuned for Week 5 on August 15!
