That’s the feeling Suzy Williams set out to capture when she sat down to design The Picnic Collection, and we think she nailed it.
Twelve Large Spools of Aurifil 50wt thread, pulled straight from the soft hues of Suzy’s Picnic Wovens for Art Gallery Fabrics— clouds drifting overhead, a clearing dappled with sun, and the bright little details of a picnic spread brimming with favorite treats. Whimsical without being sweet, vibrant without being loud. It’s Suzy, through and through.
If you know Suzy’s work, you know she brings a graphic designer’s eye to everything she touches— clean lines, modern shapes, and color chosen with intention. “I’m very much an in-the-moment maker,” Suzy told us back when we first started working together. “Usually whatever I’m working on at the time is my favorite thing.” There’s something fitting about that— a collection built by someone who’s fully present in the making, designed for the rest of us to be present in ours.
And these two collections were made for each other. Picnic Wovens are the kind of fabrics that beg to be used— picnic blankets, oversized totes, sweet vests, beach throws— and the thread palette follows right along. As Suzy puts it, the colors “capture everything I love about the collection— sun-washed hues, timeless charm, and the kind of versatility that makes you reach for them again and again.” And while this palette was built to coordinate with Picnic, it sits just as easily within the full Suzy Quilts color world— which means endless options for what comes next.
