We’ve been busy behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share a fresh new look for ShopAurifil!
Shop Aurifil began in 2021 with a question we kept hearing from makers: where do I find that collection? With so many collections from so many designers, it’s a lot to keep track of, so we gave them one place to live. Five years later, we’ve given the site its first major refresh, making it easier to explore our collections, discover helpful resources, and find a little inspiration for whatever you’re creating next.
While the website might look different, the things that matter most to us haven’t changed: beautiful threads, creative connections, and the incredible community that brings it all together.
Behind Every Collection, a Designer
We believe a spool of thread is just the beginning of a much bigger story, and our designer collaborations are an important part of it. Each collection brings together a unique selection of colors and thread weights, chosen by the designer to reflect their own style and the projects they love to make.
From timeless neutrals to bright palettes, each collection is a chance to try new color combinations and get to know a designer’s work. Shop Aurifil brings them together, new releases and longtime favorites alike, along with the stories behind them.
Explore with Ease
Looking for a particular designer collection or curious about a specific thread weight? Updated navigation makes it easier to browse by collection or weight, spot featured collaborations and brand exclusives, and keep up with the latest releases.
We’ve also made color easier to work with. Product pages used to list numbers only, and now every color has its name right beside its number. Some of you know the numbers by heart, and others think in names. Now you have both.
Education Drives Creativity
The more you know about your thread, the more confidently you can create. That’s why the new site does more than show off our collections. We’ve introduced new features and resources to enhance your experience, making it more informative and a little more inspiring. We’ve made some of our favorite educational resources easier to access, with free downloads available right on the product pages: our Digital Swatch Book, Product Guide, and Thread Reference Card.
They cover thread weights, our color range, needle recommendations, and more, so you can choose and use your thread with confidence.
We’ve also added FAQs for the questions we hear most. Wondering where to find the thread end on your spool? How best to place your spool on your machine? How to store your collection? You’ll find answers right where you need them.
Find Your Inspiration
There’s more to a designer collection than the colors in the box. Blog posts now appear on our product pages, so you can read the story behind a collaboration, pick up a new technique, and explore creative ideas from the Aurifil community.
And because we’re always listening, we’ve added customer reviews! Share your experience, celebrate your favorite collections, and help fellow makers find their next one. We care about what works for you and now you have a place to tell us.
A Resource for Makers Everywhere
Shop Aurifil ships within the United States, but the tools are for all. The educational resources, downloadable guides, color references, and blog posts are free to makers around the world, no purchase necessary.
We’ve also refreshed our About and Sustainability pages, offering a closer look at the people, values, and commitments behind Aurifil.
Rooted in Community
The Aurifil story extends far beyond any website. Independent quilt shops and specialty retailers are an essential part of what makes this community remarkable. They are where makers learn new techniques, get advice, find each other, and choose thread and fabric in person. We’re grateful for them, and we want to help you find them.
