THE INTERVIEW
What first inspired you to start sewing?
I’ve always had a strong internal motivation to make things. When I was in elementary school, I taught myself how to sew by hand using a book I bought with my allowance. I didn’t use a sewing machine until I was a junior in college. I had just gotten my first apartment and wanted to make some inexpensive curtains and pillows to decorate with.

What is your most beloved project finish and why?
My favorites are constantly changing, but right now, I’m in awe of of my Satellite Medallion quilt. It took a lot of energy to get it made in time for the Luna Sol look book. I don’t think I’ve ever put so much effort into the quilting process! When it was done, I knew it had to be on the cover of the look book.

When did you first start working as an illustrator?
I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil.

How did you first connect with Windham Fabrics and what have you most loved about working through the collection design process?
I met my fabric design idol, Heather Ross, at Quilt Con 2015 and she introduced me to the Windham family! I can’t even describe how wonderful they are to work with. I really enjoy the dialogue we have regarding putting the collection together. They’ve helped spark positive ideas and changes that I wouldn’t have come up with on my own.

What do you love most about Aurifil threads?
The color selection. I love pulling out my Aurifil color card and being able to find the perfect shade for my project. I’ve never been let down!

Do you have any advice for new designers out there?
Don’t let yourself be intimidated. Never limit yourself. Embrace failure.

  44. I fell in love with your new fabric…. Felice
One (1) because my husband lives taking photographs of sunrises and sunsets, and two (2) because when my daughter was born, she was made a bunny, We just called bunny until she could name her ” the bunny” for her self, of which she named Molly. Molly stayed with her for ever, in everything, even a near death sickness… And today at age 26 she still has ” Molly on her bed… So this fabric brought many precious memories back to me…..
And if I got your bundle I would make her a beautiful quilt, with an applique of Molly in the middle! Thank you!!💜
