2017 Fall Quilt Market, Part 1

In one of those rare quiet moments after International Quilt Market in Houston last month, a co-worker and I were marveling over what a whirlwind it always is. It’s almost like being back in school — we work and prepare and cram and create, then we take the final and wait in silent anticipation of what comes next. And then… we dive into the new school year. Chaotic as it may be, we love it. We relish the opportunity to share all of the exciting new products, to herald all of our beloved designers, and to learn from our mentors and peers.

We’ve been back for a little over two weeks now and have been bursting with excitement over new ideas, still reeling from the wonder of the demos and events we were able to share. We wanted to take some time over the next few days to share some of the magnificent madness with all of you, in hopes that you might all feel as inspired as we do!

SAMPLE SPREE
We made a splash at sample spree this year with our new favorite t-shirts — the Sew Many Colors Tee by Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill in collaboration with Patchwork Threads. Want to show off your favorite spools right along with us? You can grab your own right here.

Back Row (L to R): Alex Veronelli, Alexander Winton, Bradley Mitchell, Jon Werst || Front Row (L to R): Erin Sampson, Hilary Jordan, Elena Gregotti, Kate Brennan

This time around, we brought a mix of House & Designer Collections in a variety of weights, including hefty supply of our 80wt Best Selection 45-spool boxes. We had blast and truly loved chatting with all of the excited shoppers over the course of the evening.

AURIFIL BOOTH
Our Fall Market booth offered some of the same lovely features that we debuted in the Spring. From an expanded designer showcase area to a separate display room, a cozy meeting space to a working demo table, we did our best to create a fun space in which visitors could gather.

We felt particularly honored to also have a gorgeous Bernina Q20 Sit-down Longarm on site, perfect to help us showcase our brand new Forty3 Longarm thread (40wt, 3 ply). We had so much fun with it all and hope you did too! (Stay tuned for more on the new thread! We’ll have a post with all sorts of info very soon.)

We absolutely love the opportunity to showcase completed pieces by some incredibly talented Designers. This year’s showcase pieces were by Felice Regina, Pat Sloan and the 2016 Aurifil Designer of the Month team, Karen Miller, Sari Thomas of Sariditty, Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studios, Sophie Standing, Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness, Sue O’Very, Remy McDonough (daughter of Kristi of Schnitzel & Boo), Gwendolyn Sheppard (daughter of Wendy of Ivory Spring), Barbara Persing of Fourth & Sixth Designs, and Carolina Asmussen. Thank you to all for so generously loaning us your art!

Here is our Facebook Live tour for a little peek into the full booth layout and all that was presented there! I may have missed a few collections, but have no fear… we’ll be sharing more of that info with you soon!

AURIFRIENDS
One of the things we love most about Market is the chance to reconnect with our Aurifil friends and family. The whole weekend is like one giant reunion and we savor every moment of it. Thanks so much to all who popped by to say hello — we miss you already!

We hope you’ll join us tomorrow for more on our schoolhouses and demos! We had some exciting debuts and a super fab lineup of demo designers. See you soon!
