Happy New Year! We are so thrilled to dive into 2019 with a new lineup of posts to keep you all inspired with your sewing, quilting, and crafting throughout the year. Today we share news of Aurifilosophy, our new thread education program, while simultaneously kicking-off our beloved Thread Matters series. This year, the series will be hosted by Karen Miller of Redbird Quilt Co., Master Educator and Coordinator of Aurifilosophy.
Greetings Creative Souls — Happy 2019!!
I’m thrilled to introduce you to Aurifilosophy today and to have you join us for another year of Thread Matters.
Those who know me, know that I’ve been happily creating and free motion quilting with Aurifil thread for years! Every time I learned something new and fun about Aurifil I was eager and excited to share it on my blog or social media sites. How can one NOT love a product that has so many creative applications for sewing, quilting and crafting?

Considering this, when Aurifil approached me about heading up a thread education program to be made available to guilds, shops and groups, I jumped at the opportunity. Not only would it allow me to learn more about this fantastic product, it would enable me to readily share that knowledge with you!

Here we are months later — the program content has been prepared, a fine group of makers and educators have been trained and certified, programs have been and are continually being scheduled across the country, and I couldn’t be more excited about the potential for you to learn more about thread.
ABOUT AURIFILOSOPHY
At Aurifil we believe that education is key… that sharing extensive knowledge and truths on the construction, nature, and behavior of Aurifil threads will inspire, educate, and enable all makers to achieve brilliant results.

With that in mind, we’ve trained and certified a team of dynamic, charismatic, and brand-loyal designers, artisans, and educators to offer Aurifilosophy programs using a structured presentation and thread demonstration.
Aurifilosophers (isn’t that a great name?) will travel the countryside to educate on thread basics, including information on weight and ply, spool positioning, needle recommendations, and tension settings.

They’ll offer helpful tips and tricks and will share projects and photos aimed to inspire and expand your creative use of Aurifil threads.

Plus… at each Aurifilosophy event, program attendees will receive a bag of exclusive Aurifil swag!

THREAD MATTERS
So… what does this all mean for Thread Matters in 2019? It’ll be the same educational series you know and love… with a new twist. We’ll be highlighting techniques, tips, and inspiration from 11 of our recently certified Aurifilosophers. They are truly a stellar group of designers, artisans, and makers who regularly create with and educate about Aurifil thread.
On the first Friday of each month, we’ll feature a guest post from an Aurifilosopher who will help unlock the mysteries of Aurifil thread from a makers point of view, sharing guidelines, tips, and creative energy that will help you achieve success in your projects. Each Aurifilosopher will have a different technique or project to share. The first post will go live in February, but subscribers to our newsletter will receive the post content one week in advance. You may join our Aurifil newsletter family by clicking here.
