Welcome to the first of six Slice & Stitch Challenge posts that we’ll bring to you throughout 2019 in partner with our good friends at Olfa. With each installment, one Aurifil Artisan + one Olfa Ambassador will receive the same products with the challenge to make one new project to share with all of you.

Limited Edition Ruby Anniversary 45mm Rotary Cutter & Aurifil 50wt Thread
This month, we are thrilled to have this chance to introduce you to HollyAnne and Kristina. We absolutely adore the projects and hope you’ll have fun with them!
Good morning, everyone! My name is HollyAnne Knight of String & Story, and it is my job to guide you to quilt and live with confidence!
I use Olfa and Aurifil products– especially rotary cutters and 50wt thread– every single day, so I’m pleased as punch to be sharing these products with you. I love Olfa rotary cutters because they’re smooth and snazzy (aesthetics matter, y’all!). Also, the Olfa endurance blades are NO JOKE. They cut longer and sharper than any other blade I’ve used. As you may know, Aurifil makes a lot of beautiful thread, but the 50wt is my first and truest love. It’s fine, low lint, with just a touch of natural shine. Plus, both my domestic machines and my longarm love it!
This year, Olfa is celebrating its 40th anniversary (huzzah! See gorgeous ruby rotary cutter in the pics), and, I don’t know about you, but I know I love to celebrate with some good food, wine, and company. That sounds like a party to me, so I decided make some placemats and napkins for the special occasion!
This quick project could likely be done in an afternoon, especially if you have a couple of orphan blocks hanging around. It’s also scrap friendly, so it’s a fun way to use up some leftover bits or orphan blocks that are hanging out in your sewing room looking for “job.”
I’ve written a full tutorial for y’all to make the placemats and napkins– check it out on my blog at String & Story!
Thanks so much, HollyAnne! We want to join in on that party! <3
Head on over to Olfa’s blog to check out Kristina’s project and don’t miss our next Slice & Stitch Challenge coming up in March!
