Anna Maria Horner + Aurifil Artisans

We love Anna Maria Horner. First and foremost, she is an amazing woman with such an inspiring story. If you’ve ever been to one of her lectures, you may have learned about her creative beginnings and how she’s grown into her current career. From a childhood rich with various styles of artistic expression on to clothing design and garment construction, graphic design, fabric & pattern design, and running two amazing and revered boutiques, Anna Maria has really seen it all. (Head here for a snapshot.)

She exudes passion for her craft and her excitement is contagious. We’ve adored her work for ages, but that adoration just grew when we first met to discuss a collaboration. Her first trio of Aurifil collections came in 2017 with Warm Reception, Cool & Collected, and Stitch Gallery. Last year, we released her 2018 Color Story in partner with Conservatory – Chapter One: Pathways. Her color selections are always vibrant and rich, perfect partners to her stunning fabric designs which often look as though they could each be solo works of art, on display in a high end gallery.

To celebrate our partnership with Anna Maria, and our love and respect for her longtime partner, Free Spirit Fabrics, we created a bit of a showcase to feature her fabrics, our thread, and the magnificent craftsmanship of our beloved Aurifil Artisans.

Each Artisan received 3 Fat Quarters of Anna Maria’s fabric, courtesy of Free Spirit, in addition to a spool of thread in a coordinating color. No other directive was given — Artisans were encouraged to create something new from the materials received. From mid-May through the end of June, we’ve been delighted by a series of stunning projects, popping up in blog posts, on Instagram, and on Facebook. It’s been like a parade of Anna Maria Horner in the most lovely of ways. We’re thrilled to showcase all of that beautiful work here today.
